Thanksgiving Day Three

For a couple of reasons, today I am thankful for my education and my steady, full-time job. And to piggyback on that, I am also thankful for Andrew's education and steady, full-time job. We went to look at some apartments this morning, and we drove past a complex that looked nice, so we decided to stop in and check it out. The lady in the office showed us the prices and amenities. After a 10-minute explanation, she finally got around to telling us that it was income-limited housing, which meant that we had to make less than a certain amount in order to live there. Together, Andrew and I will make about double the limit.

While it kind of sucked to be forced to miss out on some nice, affordable apartments, it was also nice to know that Andrew and I have been smart with our money and that we have given ourselves the opportunity to be successful. We should be able to afford a decent apartment, and we won't have to live paycheck to paycheck. That is definitely one of the benefits of waiting until after college to get married.

Another thing that made me thankful for my job was that I bought Andrew's wedding ring today. It was kind of a spur-of-the-moment decision to get it tonight, but there was a sale, and it worked out best to buy it then. I'm very thankful that I have enough money set aside that I could buy it right then without it breaking me.

I may not be as crazy as I seem.

Day 20: The meaning behind your blog name.

A few years ago, I was in a Shakespeare class at BYU. I wrote a paper on Kenneth Branagh's full-text film adaptation of Hamlet (which is amazing, by the way). At one point, when Hamlet is intentionally making Polonius think he's crazy, Polonius mutters, "Though this be madness, yet there is method in't." That line ended up being the title of my paper, seeing as how it's a major theme of the play.

I just really like this line. I know the fool is the one who says it (because he's pretty slow on the uptake), but it still fits. Sometimes I act a little crazy. I get obsessed about random things. I start laughing for no apparent reason. I love to read. I can be a complete girlie girl one minute and start gabbing about basketball stats the next. I am often a study in contradiction.

While things about me may not make sense at first glance, if given a little time, I will start to make plenty of sense. There is method to my madness—you just have to stick around long enough to figure out what that method is.

Being Thankful: Day Eleven

This week, Cora has been stressing about some tests that she has to take. Every time I hear people complain about their homework or about projects they have to finish, all I can think is, "Ahhh, I'm so glad I don't have homework anymore!" I mean, don't get me wrong; I have plenty of things I have to do. It's not like all my responsibilities have melted, but I'm certainly glad that homework is one of them that has.

I'm really thankful that I made it through college, and that I can now say that I am a college graduate. There aren't many things that have given me such a sense of accomplishment as graduating from college. I'm also thankful for all the experiences I had in college that helped me grow and develop. College was great. And while I'm still living in student housing and rooming with students, I'm so thankful that I am no longer a student. I like watching movies and reading the books I want to read. It's fantastic.
